Police arrested Amanda Bynes last Friday for DUI after sideswiping a cop car in West Hollywood (via MTV).
TMZ was told by law enforcement that the former Nickelodeon star was trying to pass a cop car when the incident occurred. Cops pulled her over to see if she “was not fit to be behind the wheel.” The actress ended up behind bars, but was later released from custody on $5,000 bail.
While Bynes has yet to release a statement regarding her arrest, her father, Rick Bynes, recently spoke to People magazine, saying that Amanda was not intoxicated at the time of her arrest; she was just “upset and very emotional.”
“She was not drunk,” he said. “I was told that she blew a zero on the Breathalyzer. She didn’t have a single drink that night. My daughter doesn’t drink.”
He continued, “She is a good girl. She just chooses not to work, and because of that, people go after her.” (Amanda took a short break from acting in 2010.)
